AFCC 63rd Annual Conference -- live presentation
Association of Family and Conciliation Courts
Trina Nudson presents at the 63rd Annual AFCC Conference, May 27-30 in Seattle, Washington. This interactive workshop explores practical ways to bring the child's voice into mediation while protecting their well-being. Participants will learn developmentally appropriate methods for meeting with children, conducting follow-up feedback sessions with parents, and guiding parents to step into their child's perspective. Through case examples and discussion, the workshop will highlight how child-inclusive practices can reduce conflict, foster empathy, and support more sustainable agreements -- ensuring children are heard without being placed in the middle. The session will also explore how reflective, child-centered systems such as BeAligned can complement child-inclusive mediation practices by helping parents slow reactivity, engage in perspective-taking, and make more aligned decisions before conflict escalates.
